DC Studios has announced the animated movie ‘Dynamic Duo’.

The upcoming flick will follow the early days of Dick Grayson and Jason Todd - two iterations of Batman’s famed sidekick Robin - and is being produced by the new animation studio Swaybox.

Directed by Arthur Mintz and written by Matthew Aldrich, the picture will see the filmmaker's wife Theresa Andersson produce alongside ‘The Batman’ helmer Matt Reeves, though the project won’t be connected to his superhero universe.

Reeves told Deadline: "I have wanted to make a film with Arthur and Swaybox for many years, and for that film to be ‘Dynamic Duo’, an incredibly special and unique Batman and Robin story for families, is a dream."

Swaybox said it would be utilising "Momo animation", which has been described as a mixture of CGI animation, practical stop-motion and live-action performances on the flick.

DC Studios co-chairman James Gunn took to Threads to announce the upcoming film.

He penned: "Over the moon excited to announce the newest DC Studios/Warner Bros Pictures Animation greenlit film for theaters, ‘Dynamic Duo’, the story of Robin … or should I say, Robins, as in Dick Grayson and Jason Todd."

Gunn then heaped praise onto Aldrich’s "magnificent script" that made it easy for him and DC co-chairman Peter Safran to approve the project.

In a follow-up post, he wrote: "I couldn’t be more wowed by what Swaybox is doing. That plus Matthew’s magnificent script made this an easy LET’S GO."

While the movie has a director, writer and producer, there has been no announcement of the cast or a possible release date.

This comes after Gunn commented on the recent rumours about the studio’s upcoming pictures - including a Bane and Deathstroke flick and a Mr. Freeze standalone - and insisted fans shouldn’t "trust anything" until DC's projects are officially revealed by himself or Safran.

He wrote on Threads: "Some of them are true, some are partially true, and some aren’t true at all.

"If it’s fun for you to follow the unknowns, follow them, but don’t trust anything completely until you hear it from me or Peter."
