Adwoa Aboah tries to be "even more absurd" in the way she dresses since becoming a mother.

The Top Boy star - who has two-year-old daughter Shy - believes fashion is great way to "fight against" people's perception of "what a mother should and shouldn’t do".

Speaking to News.com.au, she said: "I think people think that after having a child that you should be doing this and wearing this and being like this.

"I don’t want to be part of that rhetoric that tells us once again, as women, what to do.

"So now, I just want to be even more absurd in the way that I dress."

Before she gave birth to Shy, Adwoa spent too much time "worrying a lot" about how clothes would look during her pregnancy journey, to the point she was "over-obsessed".

She added: "I just spent too much time before getting pregnant worrying a lot about my body and the way in which clothes would sit.

"As we all do as women, [I was] over-obsessed."

But now, the star isn't sure why she "wasted so much energy" with such thoughts.

She added: "Then your body changes in the most amazing way.

"Yeah, just like, f***, why did I waste so much energy? I should have just [been] making the most of it. Now it feels so necessary for me to do whatever I want."

Last year, Adwoa admitted she was alarmed by how thin her fellow models seemed after she had her daughter.

The star - who took a break from her career after she and partner Daniel Wheatley welcomed Shy into the world - told The Observer newspaper: "It’s one thing fitting back into your own clothes.

"It’s another thing watching the landscape of fashion be so thin that you’re like, 'My body could never be this.'

"Everyone was like, 'When are you going to come back to work?' 'It’s like, babe, I don’t know!'

"I went to London Fashion Week in September and it was wonderful, and I was really happy to be back in the mix. But all anyone could talk about was the weight I’ve lost… I just have to let it go.

"I know how to do my job. I’m respected, I have a community of people who like me for more than how much weight I’ve lost. I have so much self-worth away from what magazine covers I’ve been on."
