JoJo wore 'busty' outfit to MTV VMAs after major wardrobe malfunction
JoJo has revealed her original outfit choice for the MTV Video Music Awards "literally broke and disintegrated".
JoJo had to wear a "busty" outfit to the MTV Video Music Awards after her original choice "disintegrated".
The 35-year-old pop star, whose real name is Joanna Levesque, stepped out at the VMAs on Sunday (27.09.26) in a sparkling black bra and a matching skirt, but she has revealed that wasn't her plan.
She told PEOPLE magazine: "It was supposed to be a different outfit. However... the other outfit literally broke and disintegrated, so I was like, ‘Oops!’
"Five minutes before we get in the car, we’re like, ‘Okay, let’s pull out the other one that we love.’
“Honestly, it reminds me of like, menswear ... like Aaliyah if I had the choker. It’s like tuxedo, playing on some different things. Thankfully I love it, so it’s not a compromise.”
JoJo insisted that she wasn't bothered by the revealing nature of her second choice.
She added: “I feel a little busty, but that’s alright! It’s what I got.”
The Leave (Get Out) hitmaker previously opened up on her style, and explained that she never felt the need to shun her days as a teenage star just to make a point.
Back in 2014, she told Attitude magazine: "I just want to do what’s comfortable for me. And honestly in my personal life, I am very sexual, so I don’t feel a great need to demonstrate that in the way I represent myself!
"I feel sexy with clothes on, in front of you, you know? I don’t feel like I need to eye-f*** everybody to get them to buy my records. [laughs]
"It’s not just what I feel comfortable doing. I’m a singer, I’m a writer, I’m an artist."
JoJo noted that her private life is her own, and she didn't feel the need to "prove that she's an adult".
She added: "What I do in my personal time? I’m a freaky b****, but I don’t want to necessarily share that with everybody! I don’t feel like I need to put baby oil on my t*** to prove that I’m an adult.
"I’m grown, and I don’t feel like I need to prove that to anybody. There’s your sound-bite right there!"
