Lili Reinhart has insisted there is "no shame" in having skin breakouts.

The Riverdale actress, who founded acne-safe, dermatologist-developed skincare brand Personal Day in 2024, tries not to enter "crisis mode" when she has a flare up.

She told PEOPLE: "My main focus [is] to keep breakouts at bay, but I’m not always in crisis mode.

"There is no shame in having breakouts and less-than-perfect skin."

Lili previously told how her skin has caused her "a lot of anxiety and sadness", and admitted her body dysmorphia "stems from her acne".

Speaking in 2018, she told Glamour magazine: "I cried last night to my mom over FaceTime because of how ugly I felt I looked.

"My skin has caused me a lot of anxiety and sadness. I have a specific type of body dysmorphia that stems from acne.

"I see any acne on my face as an obsessive thing. It’s the only thing I can think about, and

edit makes me want to hide. Lorde actually messaged me on Instagram when I had spoken out about my acne and she was like, 'Girl, I feel you. I’m totally on the same page as you.'

"It was really comforting and very sweet of her."

And Lili previously admitted her acne is her "biggest insecurity".

Speaking on her Instagram Story, she shared: "I have a cystic breakout on my forehead currently. And I had to do a photo shoot all day long. I've had cystic acne since I was 12.

"And it has caused major self-esteem issues ever since.

"I had to put my biggest insecurity on display. There was nowhere to hide. 20+ people were studying my face on the camera monitor at any given time

during the 11 hour shoot. And all I could think about when I was in front of the camera were the pimples on my forehead.
