Elle Macpherson wanted to bring a "cool, effortless quality" to her Linnea Lund collaboration.
The 62-year-old supermodel has designed a capsule collection for one of her favourite brands, which includes a cashmere bomber jacket, a scarf, and a reversible sweatshirt, and she was delighted to support a female-founded business.
She told WWD: “I love supporting small businesses and women-owned and -founded businesses, and this is a love project. “It’s a passion project, and it’s very authentic...
“I love Italian-made cashmere. It stands the test of time. It doesn’t pill. There’s nothing worse than a cashmere that looks great for the first few years, and then it starts to lose its shape.”
Noting that strong finishing and a “cool, effortless quality” were essential for the collection, Elle's jacket is the centepiece to the capsule.
She said:
For the bomber jacket, the model based the silhouette on a favorite vintage style from the ’70s. Beyond that, she sought a to the capsule — and superb finishing.
“I said, ‘You know what? I think you need a bomber. Nobody does a cashmere bomber.'
“I wanted to create something that I didn’t see on the market. That’s always been my vibe.
"It goes with everything. You can dress it up at night with great jewelry, or it can be just with a T-shirt underneath.”
And with her own frequent travel on her mind, Elle thinks the sweatshirt is a perfect piece for those who want to pack lightly.
She said: “I want to take a few sweaters that I trust, and that’s why the reversible sweatshirt is so great. It’s like you get two."
Linnea Lund founder Charlotte Björklund admitted Elle is a "muse and inspiration".
She said: “She’s definitely a muse and inspiration.
“I’m someone that’s much more classic. What I really love about Elle is she’s much more active. She has this way of breaking down the clothes, and dressing them up in a very nice bohemian-chic way. It’s just beautiful on her.”
The WelleCo founder previously admitted she takes packing "very seriously" and begins loading her luggage some time before a trip.
She said: “I travel with a Rimowa suitcase and my Dior tote – and I’m someone who takes packing very seriously.
“Starting at least one week out, I try everything on and add and remove pieces as I go.
“I roll my clothes instead of folding them – that makes all the difference.
“My dream is to exist on hand luggage alone and I’m getting closer to it – I can go a good seven days.
“It’s about wearing key pieces in different combinations.
“I love throwing something on and leaving the house in two seconds.”
