Kyle MacLachlan has no regrets over his 1980s mullet.

The Twin Peaks star, 66, sported the divisive hair style - which is short at the front and long at the back - more than 40 years ago but he's insisted he no longer looks back in horror as he can now appreciate his mullet.

He told The Sunday Times newspaper: "There was a very strong mullet in the mid-1980s. There are pictures that exist, I haven’t been able to buy them all up.

"We’re through the regret and now into appreciation - it had its place in time."

In the interview, MacLachlan went on to talk about his fashion style - admitting his closet is stuffed full because he hates getting rid of clothes and has a huge haul of T-shirts dating back 30 years.

He explained: "My problem is I never get rid of things. I still have T-shirts from the 1990s. My closet is stuffed with things I love but haven’t got the courage to wear, like a Prada x Adidas jacket that’s so cool and I love it, but I know I won’t wear it."

Kyle added of his love of his fashion sense: "'[My style is] neutral, comfortable, classic ... [I have too many] T-shirts. I like the Muji soft cotton ones in white, grey and navy blue, with tan pants or jeans and a classic white tennis shoe like a Stan Smith or Jack Purcell."

The actor has become a social media star since embracing TikTok and he recently admitted he wears clothes made by his teenage son Callum for his online videos.

Kyle told PEOPLE: "I said I needed a kind of a pant or something, and he sews stuff. He makes the pants that the kids wear - listen to me - that the kids wear today. So anyway, they’re quite baggy.

"[Callum] said: 'Yeah, here, Dad, you got this, this and this.' So he did the wardrobe for me for the video ...

"I was like: 'Oh, yeah, these actually look pretty good, you know?’ It’s so funny. I was like, ‘Well, maybe I'll start wearing baggy pants' ...

"[Callum has] got an exceptional fashion sense. It's very specific. He's right at the cutting edge of things."
