Ellen Pompeo is "big into serums and oils" now she's in her mid-50s.

The 'Grey's Anatomy' star - who will celebrated her 56th birthday in November - is a brand ambassador for skincare company Meaningful Beauty, and she is a fan of its Youth Activating Melon Serum Advanced Formula.

Reflecting on her beauty regime when she's flying, Ellen told Travel + Leisure: “That's always been my go-to in this line.

"And I put the melon serum on first, and then I put oil over it when I travel. I'm really big into serums and oils at this age."

Usually, she starts her day with a sauna and cold plunge at home, and she tries to make her routine work when she's on the road.

She added: "I’ll try to look for hotels with saunas. Not everybody has a cold plunge. Cold plunges are a relatively, you know, sort of bougie, new thing.

"I think most of these older hotels don't have it, but a cold shower, I think, does the same.”

Ellen recently opened up about ageing, and dismissed the idea that characters are limited for older stars.

She told El Pais: "When you're really young in Hollywood, you're hired for your talent, but also for your beauty.

"They're not hiring you for your beauty at 50 years old, they're hiring you for your complexity and your talent alone.

"Certainly, women are more complex as they get older, and so are the roles."

The star is one of the best-paid actresses on television thanks to her role in 'Grey's Anatomy', although she still thinks there is a long way to go for women in the industry as she was earning less than her co-star Patrick Dempsey for several years.

She said: "I think that it takes all of us women standing up for each other and supporting one another.

"I've had so many women be so kind to me and supportive of me, and I have tried to do the same for other women.

"I don't think I alone have done anything, I'm part of a group of extraordinarily talented women in Hollywood, and collectively, we have to come together to learn to use our voices more."
