Brooke Shields rejected her daughter's "inappropriate" outfit suggestion for her school's parents weekend.

The 59-year-old actress has revealed her 18-year-old girl Grier tried to convince her famous mother to sport "cowboy boots and a little short dress" to the college event, but she isn't sure it'd give the right impression.

She told People magazine: "We're going to parents' weekend soon and Grier called me and said, 'I want you to wear cowboy boots and a little short dress.'

"I said, 'I don't think that that is appropriate and I do not want to.' And she's like, 'Mom, it'll just make you cooler.'

"And then my husband was like, 'You should wear Daisy Dukes.' I'm like, 'What?' I'm not trying to look backwards. I'm trying to go forward, but in a youthful way."

Brooke - who also has daughter Rowan Francis Henchy, 21, with her husband Chris Henchy - explained how this outlook impacts her new Commence haircare line focused on women over the age of 40.

She added: "There should be a lightness in this era of a woman's life, and instead we're met with, 'Oh, so you're in menopause now,' or, 'You've had a good run.'

"The moment when your kids are gone it's like, 'All right, see you later.' What I want with this brand is a lightness, vibrancy and an excitement for this period of our lives."

The actress and model previously insisted she has no plans to age "gracefully", while still urging people to focus on "acceptance and kindness" of yourself.

She told Allure magazine: "Isn't it interesting how we even have to say, okay, well if you're going to age, you're going to have to do it gracefully.

"Excuse me, but f*** you. Aging is not a graceful process... You can judge yourself with grace, meaning acceptance and kindness, but also reality.

“If you don't like what's happening to your stomach, do sit-ups. Maybe stop drinking as much. Those things to me are graceful.”

When it comes to her hair, Brooke insisted she isn't a fan of how going grey makes her face look.

She added: "I'm not going to let my hair go grey... I'm not going to let my roots grow in because I'm not ready for that yet. I don't like what it does to my face.”
