Ellie Goulding is about to release her sixth studio album.

The 39-year-old pop star has not released an LP since 2023's Higher Than Heaven, and Ellie has teased that her next release will come "soon".

She told The Sun newspaper's Bizarre column: "I’ve spent the past few years working really closely with a brilliantly talented producer and multi-instrumentalist called Jack Rochon.

"I actually found him on TikTok when he was still relatively undiscovered, living in Canada. He’s since moved to Los Angeles and worked with Beyonce.

"I immediately connected with what he was doing creatively. I have always loved discovering emerging talent and championing new voices, just like I did when I first started out and discovered Starsmith.

"We’ve recorded hundreds of songs together, and I loved the freedom of exploring different sounds, feelings, thoughts, and experiences.

"It felt really organic and honest, like journaling through music."

The Anything Can Happen hitmaker has just debuted her single, Black Prada Dress, at BBC Radio 1 Big Weekend in Sunderland, North East England.

Speaking about the track, Ellie said: "There’s not one definitive experience that inspired it.

"It’s directed at that negative, critical voice bringing you down. And that voice could be your own, internal voice — that self-critical, destructive one.

"I feel like we all have one of those, just like we have different versions of ourselves. I love the honesty of it, the rawness, and I hope people can connect to it in their own way.”

The chart-topping artist's forthcoming record addresses her separation from ex-husband Caspar Jopling in 2024 after five years of marriage.

And Ellie - who has son Arthur, four, with Jopling - never expected to release a "divorce album".

In January, the Love Me Like You Do performer explained to Nylon magazine: "It had always been the goal to start this album. I didn't know it was going to be a divorce album, but that's the way it started heading.

"When I married my ex-husband, I thought it was for life. That will never go away, and that will always stay with me. There are some songs that are necessary for me to acknowledge that time in my life and to be respectful of it.

"Then there were some songs that were extremely reactionary and sad that I felt were good to do in the moment, but don't serve me long-term."

Ellie - who gave birth to her second child, Iris, with her boyfriend, Beau Minniear, in March - said that her changed emotions are reflected in the upcoming album.

She said: "It's so funny that the process over the years is so indicative of how I was feeling at the time. The songs have gone from so dark and angry, to cynical, to funny, to coming out the other side, to meeting a new guy and being excited."
