Billy Joel's CBS special, ‘Billy Joel: The 100th — Live at Madison Square Garden’, will be re-shown after it was abruptly cut short midway through 'Piano Man'.

The music legend's fans were left baffled after the concert film came to a sudden end before the 74-year-old entertainer had finished his iconic song, and CBS has claimed it finished around two minutes early in some time zones because of a “programming timing error” and apologised to everyone impacted.

The broadcaster is now re-airing it, due to "overwhelming demand" and the backlash, on Friday (19.04.24) at 9pm ET/PT.

It said: "A network programming timing error ended last night’s Billy Joel special approximately two minutes early in the Eastern and Central Time Zones. We apologise to Mr. Joel, his fans, our affiliated stations, and our audience whose viewing experience was interrupted during the last song. Due to the overwhelming demand from his legion of fans, ‘Billy Joel: The 100th — Live at Madison Square Garden‘ will be rebroadcast in its entirety on CBS on April 19th at 9pm ET/PT.”

The two-hour special was filmed on March 28.

Joel is due to end his record-breaking stint at the iconic New York City venue, which first began back in January 2014, on July 25, 2024, with his 150th show.

The 'Uptown Girl' hitmaker said at a press conference last year: "I'm kind of flabbergasted that it lasted as long as it did.

"My team tells me that we could continue to sell tickets, but 10 years, 150 shows - all right already!"

Earlier this year, Joel released 'Turn the Lights Back On', his first single in 17 years.
