Rosie O'Donnell reveals which showbiz pal inspired her facelift
Rosie O'Donnell admits Ricki Lake inspired her to get a face lift.
Ricki Lake inspired Rosie O'Donnell to get a facelift.
The 57-year-old TV star has been candid about her decision to go under the knife in recent years, and Rosie admits that it helped her to follow suit.
Rosie explained to People: "As a feminist I always felt this is the patriarchy, the male gaze and not anything that I believe in.
"The biggest person I had to deal with was Clay (her youngest child) who said, ‘Mommy, girls look up to you and what does your legacy stand for if you do this?"
Rosie delayed committing to a decision for six months, before she decided to take the plunge.
She said: "I decided the real power of feminism is women get to decide what they want to do to their body and when."
Rosie also looked to Ricki, her showbiz pal, for some inspiration.
The TV star - who has also been open about her use of weight-loss medication - shared: "Ricki Lake has been very public about hers and she was my coach. But I didn’t make it public until people started saying, ‘God you look so much better, What are you doing?’
"I didn’t want to be one of those people who says, ‘Oh nothing....’ Just like with the Mounjaro. I didn’t want people who are struggling with their weight to feel like something was wrong with them."
Earlier this month, Ricki marked the two-year anniversary of her "deep plane lower face and neck lift" by showing off the "remarkable" results to her fans.
The former talk show host went under the knife to fix the loose extra skin that hung below her chin.
The Hairspray actress took to Instagram and posted multiple before and after shots following her lower face and neck lift, adding the caption: "Happy 2 year anniversary to me.
"Yes, 2 years ago today, I had a face lift. Specifically, for those wondering, I had a deep plane lower face and neck lift along with a mild co2 laser. (sic)"
