Kat Graham has admitted new motherhood wasn’t “exactly how” she’d imagined it would be.
The Vampire Diaries actress became a first-time mum when she welcomed son Prospero - her first child with husband Bryant Wood - in March (26).
But working on a new album with a newborn was an experience Kat wasn’t prepared for, she admitted in a post on her Instagram page.
Sharing snaps of herself in the recording studio working on her seventh studio album K’Pelle alongside a baby pram, she wrote: “Spent 3 years making this album…
“Rehearsals. Shoots. Interviews. Airports. Global Citizen. FIFA. Baby!
“Weeks postpartum wasn’t exactly how I imagined releasing K’Pelle, but profoundly motherhood was instrumental to releasing it.”
Kat added that she’s “grateful to everyone who’s listened, shared, and believed in this project”, before concluding with a shout out to her “little roadie” for “being down for the adventures”.
The 36-year-old then shared snaps of some of the words she’s included in the documentation for K’Pelle, including the special thanks she penned for her nearest and dearest.
To her wellness coach spouse, Kat wrote: “To my husband Bryant Wood, who has dedicated his life to reminding people how deeply connected we all are.
“Thank you for loving my curls and my mummy curves and for believing in me so fiercely as an artist. I am so grateful to be your baby mama and your wife.”
She concluded her messages of thanks with one for Prospero, who she fondly calls Spero, as she wrote: “To my beautiful son Prospero. You give me hope, that even in a world filled with war, division, heartache and pain, peace is still possible.
“Every time you open your eyes and smile at me, I know it, because I see peace in you.”
Bryant was among those commenting on the Instagram post, and wrote to Kat: “Besides Spero! This is my favourite of your creations. Proud of you.”
While another of Kat’s friends commented: “This album is truly remarkable. One of the many reasons why I’ve admired you for so many years… one thing that never changed in the 15 years I’ve known: you keep trying to make a difference and inspire others to do the same.
“That is freaking special and it reflects on this album. I’m so proud of you.”
