Britney Spears a no-show at family reunion to celebrate niece’s graduation
The singer’s parents, sister and eldest son reunited publicly for niece Maddie Aldridge’s graduation ceremony while speculation continued over Britney Spears’ strained family relationships.
Britney Spears was absent as much of her family reunited for niece Maddie Aldridge’s high school graduation.
Despite the troubled 44-year-old singer’s parents, sister and eldest son all attending the ceremony, the Baby One More Time performer was a no-show amid continuing scrutiny surrounding her fractured relationship with the Spears family.
Rare photographs emerged from the ceremony of Britney’s father Jamie Spears, mother Lynne Spears, sister Jamie Lynn Spears and son Sean Preston Federline, as they gathered to celebrate 17-year-old Maddie’s milestone.
The family reunion comes during another turbulent chapter for Britney, whose personal life has remained under intense public focus since the end of her controversial conservatorship in 2021.
In recent months, Britney has again dominated headlines following legal troubles linked to a March arrest and reports surrounding her mental health treatment, while renewed fan discussion about her legacy has continued alongside the enduring popularity of albums including Blackout, Oops!... I Did It Again and In the Zone.
According to photographs obtained by the Daily Mail, Jamie attended the graduation in a grey suit after undergoing a leg amputation in 2023 following an infection.
Lynne wore a cream dress and matching blazer, while Jamie Lynn was seen emotional during the ceremony as she watched her daughter graduate.
Britney’s eldest son Sean Preston, who she had with former husband Kevin Federline, attended in a white polo shirt and was photographed holding up an image of his cousin during the event.
Jamie Lynn’s younger daughter Ivey Watson was also reportedly seen pushing Jamie’s wheelchair through the crowd.
The family gathering took place shortly after Britney pleaded guilty to a lesser charge connected to her March arrest in a driving under the influence case.
According to Page Six, Britney accepted a “wet reckless” plea arrangement – a reduced offence often used in first-time cases involving no injuries or low blood alcohol readings.
Britney’s attorney Michael Goldstein told the outlet: “Through her plea today, Britney has accepted responsibility for her conduct.”
He added: “She has taken significant steps to implement positive change which is clearly reflected in the Ventura County District Attorney’s decision to reduce the charge in this case and dismiss the DUI.”
Michael continued: “Britney appreciates this discretion and is also grateful for the outpouring of support she has received.”
The Grammy-winning singer also reportedly entered a treatment facility voluntarily in April.
A source previously told Page Six: “This isn’t about one substance in particular, it has a dual purpose….this is about Britney putting her mental health first and taking some time for herself to focus on the things that are important to her.”
Another source later told the outlet Britney was “doing really well” after completing treatment.
