The 41-year-old pop star is preparing to play her first arena tour after releasing her new album Superbloom, and Jessie has revealed that she's drawn inspiration from Lady Gaga.

She told BBC Newsbeat: "Gaga connects in arenas.

"Maybe I'm going to have to have a B-stage or get into the crowd, but I'll find a way. I will try and bring that intimacy, vocals, pizzazz - all of it."

Jessie said her forthcoming arena tour feels "hyper-surreal, majestic and mad", and reflected on how long it has taken her to reach this stage in her career.

She said: "I love the journey that I've been on. I just think it shows how long it can take to build a community. I'm on my sixth record and the fact we're still getting bigger and better is really exciting."

Meanwhile, Jessie recently suggested that she's "reclaiming" her sense of identity in her forties.

The singer has found more tranquillity in her life in recent years, as her three children have become more independent.

She told The Times newspaper: "You're no longer up in the night. You're not doing nappies. They are more independent and so maybe your relationship with your partner transitions from saying, ‘Are you doing that feed?’

"It is that reclaiming of your sexual identity, needs, wants. Also, you start to understand how you view your body again, which has been a vessel and a tool."

Jessie describes her forties as being a "really interesting time" in her life - but the pop star also feels she's still in a "sweet spot".

She said: "It’s a really interesting time, your forties, because you are near midlife. You are nearing a time when you think about dying, but this is a sweet spot, where you want to cram in as much fun as possible. It’s a frenzied time."
