Kelsea Ballerini and Chase Stokes 'are still healing'
Kelsea Ballerini recently avoided an awkward encounter with Chase Stokes.
Kelsea Ballerini and Chase Stokes are "both still healing" after their breakup.
The 32-year-old music star and Chase, 33, previously called time on their romance, and the pair narrowly avoided crossing paths at the Fashion Trust Awards earlier this week.
A source told Us Weekly: "Kelsea and Chase kept their distance and did not interact at the Fashion Trust Awards last night. They knew each other were going to be there but stayed on opposite sides of the room."
The celebrity duo still have "mixed emotions" about each other.
The insider explained: "There’s lingering hurt, but also love, making the situation complicated for both of them. Both are feeling mixed emotions about seeing each other."
In February, a source claimed that Kelsea and Chase "still love each other" despite their break-up.
The former couple are "not dating right now" but they still have lingering feelings for each other.
The source told People: "They still love each other, which is why they've kept trying to make it work. But their lives are in very different places right now. Figuring out where to live and how to truly merge their lives has been hard lately. It's been something they've gone back and forth on.
"They just want to be happy though. They've been trying to figure out a situation where they are both happy together, but that doesn't seem possible at the moment."
By contrast, a second source suggested that Kelsea hadn't felt properly supported by Chase.
The insider explained: "Kelsea's been so supportive of him throughout their relationship but it hasn't been reciprocated, especially as her career has continued to grow.
"It feels like there's insecurity there on his end."
Kelsea and Chase previously split before reconciling their differences. And Kelsea even addressed their reconciliation in an Instagram post.
She said: "Messy year for the heart, messy year for the outside coming in, messy year for the way it became an out of our hands portrayal of it. But what I’ll say, and all I really care to share indefinitely with my personal life anymore, is that I really love love. I believe in it, I believe in him, and I believe in breaking patterns. Now go kiss your person and stop speculating."
