Lily Allen "hasn't got the time" to have surgery on an injured shoulder.

The 40-year-old singer damaged her rotator cuff - a group of muscles which help with movement and stability - when she went snowboarding, and though it has affected her ability to play her favourite sports, she insisted she is too busy to take time out from her schedule to have an operation .

Lily told her pal, radio personality Miquita Oliver, 41, on the latest episode of their Miss Me? podcast: "I have got a bad rotator cuff. That's happened. That's been like that for a long time.

"Since I last went snowboarding, my rotator cuff has been a bit up. That's why I can't really play tennis or any of those other sports that I really miss."

Miquita injured her own rotator cuff after tumbling down the stairs when she moved into her current house urged the Smile hitmaker to go and get it sorted out but Lily insisted she was doing what she could on the advice of a physiotherapist.

She said: "I don't know what you want me to do except for go to the gym five times a week and build the muscles that support it.

"That's what I'm doing. That's what my physio has told me to do."

Disagreeing with Lily's choice of recovery method, Miquita told her to schedule surgery.

But the singer refused and said: "No, I have not got the time, quite frankly."

A concerned Miquita jumped back and added: "'I haven't got the time. I haven't got the time to look after myself.'

"That's a worrying comment on the day we're going to talk about women having it all."

Lily is also nursing another injury and planned to visit hospital for an X-ray on her hand after being convinced she broke a bone when she mistakenly punched a "wooden structure", thinking it was a soft piece of furniture.

She explained: "Also, I think I've broken my hand today. I'm going to have to go and get it X-rayed tomorrow.

"I punched a sofa that isn't really a sofa. It's a wooden structure that's meant to look like a sofa.

"And I think I broke my hand."
