Borderlands 4 will tone down toilet humour, Gearbox narrative director Sam Winkler insists
'Borderlands 4' will dial down its toilet humour, Gearbox Software narrative director Sam Winkler has said.
'Borderlands 4' will pull back on toilet humour.
The action-RPG series has become renowned for its potty jokes, and after 'Borderlands 4' received its first gameplay trailer at last week's (12.12.24) Game Awards, Gearbox Software narrative director Sam Winkler has insisted the upcoming title will dial down on its bathroom humour.
On X (formally Twitter), the developer wrote: "[I'm] not at liberty to talk much about the content of 'BL4', but I remain firm in my criticism of 'BL3's overabundance of toilet humor."
Winkler added he would "cry real tears" if internet memes like skibidi toilet and hawh tuah found their way into the game.
He penned: "I'm not gonna say there's no toilets but if the word skibidi ships in the game under my watch I'm gonna cry real tears.
"[Games journalist] Paul Tassi joked that we were gonna have a gun called Hawk 2A and a fellow dev asked me if it was real and I wanted to put my hand down the sink grinder."
Even so, Winkler emphasised 'Borderlands 4' would be the "most ambitious game yet" for Gearbox, and said he was glad to be working "with some of the funniest people [he] knows".
'Borderlands 4' is slated to release next year on PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S and PC.
