Carl Froch thinks Tyson Fury's father John should take a step back from the former world champion's training camp in preparation for his rematch against Oleksandr Usyk.

Carl Froch has urged John Fury to stay out of his son Tyson's corner for the rematch against Oleksandr Usyk.

Fury Snr was widely criticised for his advice in the closing rounds of the Gypsy King's loss to Usyk in May's initial fight and Froch has called for him to keep his distance when the pair renew hostilities in December.

Speaking on his 'Froch on Fighting' YouTube channel, the retired fighter said: "Tyson probably knows that actually. 'Listen dad. I love you to bits. I know you've got my best intentions at heart and you want me to win and you want me to do the business, but do me a favour, stay out of the way, shut the f*** up.'

"It's probably a little more than that. But, they don't need big John Fury in the ring, do they? They don't need him here."

The former world champion continued: "So, if he surfaces his head fight week, I'll be shocked.

"If he's in the corner, I mean you've got Andy Lee and SugarHill (Steward). Two very experienced guys at world level who know the game inside-out. You don't need big John Fury in the corner.

"So, hopefully, (John) Fury just sits back, keeps his mouth shut, watches his son and wills him on to win. Maybe he's in the camp, maybe he's helping him and keeping the distance and letting the real trainers do the job."

Fury Jr admits that he hasn't spent much time on tactical preparation for the fight as he knows that small adjustments will help him avenge the first defeat of his career.

The former world champion said: "I know what I've got to do, nothing drastic. People can say, 'I want to change trainers or I'll blame it on my conditioning coach or I'll blame it on the cook or I'll blame it on the mouse next door.'

"Same team, same everything. I know what I've got to do."
