Silent Hill 2 director ‘very happy’ with the remake
Just before the game releases, 'Silent Hill 2' director Masashi Tsuboyama has said he is "very happy" with the remake because it will allow "a new generation" to experience the horror classic.
‘Silent Hill 2’ director Masashi Tsuboyama is “very happy” about Bloober Team’s upcoming remake.
Ahead of the remake’s release tomorrow (08.10.24), the industry veteran - who helmed the original 2001 game - has said he is elated to see the title return because it will allow modern audiences to experience the horror classic.
On X, Tsuboyama wrote: “I think the value of the remake is that a new generation can play it.
“As a creator, I'm very happy about it. It's been 23 years! Even if you don't know the original, you can just enjoy the remake as it is. Whether it's good or bad [it] doesn't affect the original.”
The developer then revealed his initial impressions of the remake and praised Bloober for making ‘Silent Hill 2’ a better, more well-rounded gaming experience.
He penned: “The change in playable camera has a significant impact on many aspects, combat, level design, art creation, etc.
“While the impact on the story may be relatively small, it brings a big change to the playfeel of the game.”
Tsuboyama added he appreciated the new over-the-shoulder view in the remake because it made playing the title “even more immersive”.
He wrote: “The over-the-shoulder view definitely adds to the sense of realism. In other words, it makes me want to try playing the even more immersive remake of ‘Silent Hill 2’.”
