Footballers who have hair transplants play better once they have had the procedure.
Dr. Victor Hasson - who has carried out 20,000 transplants at his Hasson and Wong Hair Transplant Clinic in Vancouver - explained that the process gives them fresh confidence and how has worked on many Premier League stars "whose lives had been changed" as a result.
He told the Daily Telegraph newspaper: "They are able to perform at a high level when they have that confidence.
"It is tremendous to have that self-belief."
Hasson refuses to reveal his clients' names unless they have spoken about their operations but he is known for former Chelsea and Tottenham manager Antonio Conte's transplant.
The expert credits Wayne Rooney for going public with his 2011 treatment for removing the "stigma" associated with hair transplants.
He said: "Rooney removed the stigma.
"Even in Canada, people were talking about him."
Dr. Luciano Sciacca, a hair transplant surgeon at the Wimpole Clinic on London's Harley Street, concurred with the view that a new head of hair gives a player a boost.
The doctor was responsible for Arsenal defender Rob Holding's transformation and the clinic suggests that it is the ideal example of a hair transplant.
Michael Panayiotis Kokotis, marketing boss at the clinic, said: "Rob has been great for our business.
"Lots of young men look at him losing his hair and say, ‘Wow, that’s me’.
"He is a walking advertisement for what a fantastic hair transplant looks like."
