A Brazilian man has broken a world record for the furthest eyeball pop.

Sidney de Carvalho Mesquita's eyes have earned a place in the Guinness World Records 2023 by protruding out by 18.2mm (0.71 inches) beyond his sockets.

The record was verified by officials in Sao Paulo earlier this year.

Sidney, who is also known as Tio Chico, discovered his unique talent at the age of nine when he enjoyed making silly faces in front of the mirror. He realised that his eyes could pop out a lot further than his friends and couldn't help but show off his talent.

His parents were concerned that he may have a disease but it turned out that Sidney simply has a condition called globe luxation, which does not impact his health.

Sidney told Guinness: "My skill is definitely a gift. It came from my father, my mother and the creator, too."
