Domhnall Gleeson has blamed bedbugs for his "angry" appearance in Star Wars: Episode VIII — The Last Jedi.
The 43-year-old actor played the villainous First Order leader General Hux in the sequel trilogy and he recalled being "eaten alive" at his accommodation while working on the second movie in the series, and was frequently "really itchy" on set as a result.
During his upcoming appearance on The Drew Barrymore Show, Domhnall was asked what first came to mind when the host said "Star Wars" and he immediately replied: “Bedbugs."
He then explained: “I was staying in a hotel the night before my first day shooting, and I got eaten alive by bedbugs. And the hotel said that they didn’t have bedbugs and that I was imagining it and that was a lie."
The hotel then changed its view.
Domhnall recalled: “They suggested that I wear pyjamas. That was the solution to not being bitten.”
As a result of his nocturnal discomfort, the actor arrived on set not in the best of moods.
Looking at a still of himself in character, he said: “When I look at that, I just think I was probably really itchy that day.
”That’s why I look so angry, I think. That’s why I played it like that.”
Elsewhere during the interview Drew discussed how she has always been besotted with Darth Vader.
She admitted: “He’s my first crush."
The Paper actor replied: “Isn’t that insane? You seem like a nice person, you seem so lovely.”
Drew admitted: “It wasn’t that he was like a dark person, but he just was sexy to me.
“He just, he was hot, he is hot, and I gotta tell you, I wouldn’t say no to a stormtrooper either.”
Drew previously discussed her crush on Darth Vader following the death of David Prowse, who played the Sith lord, in 2020.
She said on her show at the time: “I used to have a recurring dream when I was a kid. I would run down these hallways, I was clearly being chased, and then I would get to the panel in the wall, and I would do the things and the buttons to open up the wall, but then the cape would close around it and the camera would pan up and [Darth Vader] would look down at me. I’m into men in masks!”
