Lila Moss ‘getting cold shoulder from fellow models over repo baby status’
Kate Moss’ model daughter is determined to succeed on her own terms despite reportedly finding herself isolated backstage.
Lila Moss is said to have been given the “cold shoulder” by fellow models as she attempts to establish a career away from the considerable shadow cast by her supermodel mother Kate Moss.
The 23-year-old model was among the famous faces walking for H M during London Fashion Week this week, appearing alongside models including Alex Consani, Paloma Elsesser and Karen Elson at the brand’s technology-heavy H and M and YOU and I presentation.
But behind the scenes, Lila has reportedly found being the daughter of one of fashion’s most recognisable figures does not necessarily guarantee a warm reception from her peers.
A source told The Sun: “Lila was booked in the standard way, just like all the other models. She didn’t ask for any special treatment due to her status – in fact, it’s the opposite.
“Over the past year, she’s confided in pals that many other models give her the cold shoulder or totally ignore her altogether.
“Yes, being Kate’s daughter has opened a lot of doors, but Lila wants to be successful in her own right.
“There have been many times over the years where backstage she is left all on her own.”
Lila is the daughter of Kate, 52, and magazine publisher Jefferson Hack, 55, the co-founder of Dazed Media.
Her latest London Fashion Week appearance came as H and M staged an immersive show created with photographer Nick Knight and SHOWstudio, with music from Labrinth.
Brazilian ballerina Ingrid Silva opened the event before Alex led the models on to the runway, with Lila among a cast that also included Paloma, Karen and Archie Renaux.
The show also made headlines after Peta activists disrupted proceedings as part of a protest over the fashion industry’s use of wool.
The demonstration followed a similar protest at a COS show during New York Fashion Week, where an altercation involving Council of Fashion Designers of America chief Steven Kolb ultimately preceded his resignation.
Lila, meanwhile, has steadily developed her own fashion career after growing up with one of the industry’s most famous models as her mother.
She made her runway debut for Miu Miu at Paris Fashion Week and has worked with major fashion and beauty names including Marc Jacobs Beauty, Fendi, Gucci and YSL Beauty.
She is represented by the Kate Moss Agency.
Kate became one of the defining models of the 1990s, with her Calvin Klein campaigns helping turn her into an international fashion figure.
She has subsequently worked across fashion for decades, including as a contributing fashion editor at British Vogue.
Despite wanting to forge her own career, Lila has previously spoken openly about sharing her mother’s love of clothes – and helping herself to pieces from Kate’s wardrobe.
She said: “My mum finds me in her wardrobe at least once a week, but I know anything truly off-limits will be hidden. So, yes, that vintage Dior Bar jacket is mine.”
Lila has also revealed that Kate initially attempted to discourage her from following her into modelling.
Speaking to British Vogue in 2022, Lila said: “My mum always put me off. She was always like, ‘If you wanna do it, you can, but I wouldn’t recommend it’.
“When I was younger, she was scared that I’d fall into the same trap, I think.”
