Kimberly Williams-Paisley feels Diane Keaton's presence after buying her hat and gloves
Kimberly Williams-Paisley starred in Father of the Bride and its sequel alongside Diane Keaton, who died of primary bacterial pneumonia in October 2025 at the age of 79.
Kimberly Williams-Paisley says she has felt Diane Keaton's presence since buying the late actress' hat and gloves at auction.
The 54-year-old actress snapped up her Father of the Bride co-star's custom black bowler, featuring a skull and crossbones and "NO MORE WAR" emblazoned on the front, and the sheer garments at the estate auction in June, eight months after Diane died of primary bacterial pneumonia at the age of 79.
And as soon as Kimberly and her pals unpacked the items to photograph them, a bald eagle landed in a nearby tree, and she immediately felt the Oscar-winner's energy around them.
Taking to Instagram on Friday (07.08.26), the entertainer shared shots from her photoshoot, in which she wore the hat and gloves, paired with a black-and-white suit. A video of the bald eagle was also included.
Kimberly's caption read: "Recently I bought this hat and gloves from the Diane Keaton auction. I’m so happy to have some of her iconic style with me.
"While my friends and I were carefully unpacking these items and getting ready to shoot this, a gorgeous, gigantic bald eagle landed in a nearby tree, stayed for a moment and then flew off (see video). THIS IS SO RARE!!
"It definitely felt like Diane’s energy was around us! The hat says, 'NO MORE WAR,' and she’d added a skull and crossbones. So, I’m passing along her message. (sic)"
The star played Annie Banks-MacKenzie, the daughter of Nina Banks (Diane) and George Banks (Steve Martin) in 1991's Father of the Bride as well as its sequel four years later.
Kimberly said Diane was one of her "idols" long before they met on set, where the pair "really bonded".
Speaking on her Call It What It Is podcast following Diane's death, she said: "She was just so generous and so funny and wise. Just wonderful.
"And especially on the second film, I felt like we really bonded and just laughed. Just the humour clicked, and it was so fun to be on set when she was on set.”
Trusting Diane, Kimberly turned to her to discuss the anxiety she experienced early in her career.
She said: "I remember I had a lot of anxiety during those two movies. I mean, I was 19 on the first one. It was the first major role I had. And Diane was like a mother figure to me who was very safe. I talked to her about my anxiety."
Kimberly added: "I would have weird nightmares and weird [dreams]. And I think it was me working out my anxiety in the middle of the night, and she would analyse dreams with me.
"So, really, she was just kind, listening ear to ear."
