Maya Hawke shares her one regret about her wedding
Maya Hawke had a "wonderful" day but does have one regret.
Maya Hawke wishes she'd been more "selfish" about her wedding.
The Stranger Things actress married Christian Lee Hutson in a romantic Valentine’s Day (14.02.26) wedding in New York City and while the big day itself was "wonderful", the 27-year-old star regrets spending so much time in the build up to the celebrations worrying about making sure her guests had a great time.
She reflected to People magazine: "It was a wonderful day, and I probably wouldn't want to say anything more about it than that."
Offering advice to others planning their wedding, she said: "Be selfish. Because I worried so much about how everyone else's experience was going to go that I'd worked myself into a total tizzy, and then it happened, and I had a great time, and everyone had a great time. I didn't need to worry as much as I did.
"I wasted a lot of energy being so worried, so if I had any advice, it would be worry less.
"It's going to be great. Everyone's there to support you, do whatever you want. Don't kill yourself trying to make everybody else happy, just make yourself happy."
For the wedding, Maya wore a custom Prada wedding dress with an oversized feathered winter coat, while the 35-year-old groom looked stylish in a classic custom tuxedo by the same fashion house.
As well as Maya's parents, Hollywood stars Ethan Hawke and Uma Thurman, the guest list included her Stranger Things co-stars Natalia Dyer, Joe Keery, Sadie Sink, Finn Wolfhard, Caleb McLaughlin, Gaten Matarazzo, and Charlie Heaton.
The pair’s relationship has long been intertwined with their creative lives. Christian confirmed their engagement last year while discussing his song Carousel Horses, revealing he worked on the track with his “fiancée” Maya. Their musical partnership continued into 2024, with Christian appearing on Maya’s album Chaos Angel.
The pair, who were first linked in 2023 after being spotted together in NYC, were friends long before they became romantically involved.
Maya previously told The Zach Sang Show about dating a pal: “I cannot recommend highly enough dating your friends. It’s the best. They know you, they understand that you’re a person and a human being that has dated other people who has dated them. Who has feelings and is a living, breathing human not just like a piece of paper to project image of perfect girlfriend onto.”
