Barbie Ferreira has felt like the "butt of this generation’s ups and downs about body politics".

The 29-year-old actress thinks there has been too much focus on her appearance at times in her career, but Barbie doesn't allow the chatter to bother her these days.

During an appearance on the Not Skinny But Not Fat podcast, Barbie explained: "To me, talking about weight loss or glowing up is so boring.

"I think people are just obsessed with that right now. It’ll be even a young person that just grows up and it’s like, ‘The glow up! Or the glow down!’ Everyone’s obsessed with that.

"It’s not just me. Every actress right now is being put under a microscope of being too skinny or too big. It’s all rage bait. If you can find something to rage bait about, it’s more effective in the algorithm."

Barbie was conscious of the online chatter during her teenage years. But the actress has learned to live with the comments and criticism.

She said: "For me, I have the perspective of what’s happening because I’m like the first person, I’m the punching bag of everything.

"It feels like a different place that we are in of society. A few years ago, it felt a little bit easier. It felt a little bit less of a conversation and now it’s all people talk about. People are just obsessed with looks and it’s not good for the psyche for anyone."

Meanwhile, Barbie previously admitted that she wanted to act from a young age.

The Euphoria star revealed that she had her heart set on the profession as a child - even though she had no Hollywood connections.

Barbie told People: "I knew what I wanted from a very young age.

"I didn't grow up in a Hollywood family by any means or anything like that, so for me, I just had no plan B.

"I'm just a go-getter in this way where I really try. If I want to do something, I will try my hardest to make it happen and continue doing it."
