Margot Robbie will 'protect' her son from the spotlight
Barbie star Margot Robbie intends to keep her 14-month-old son out of the limelight after being "burnt" when speaking freely about her personal life in the past.
Margot Robbie is determined to keep her young son out of the spotlight.
The 35-year-old actress welcomed a boy with her husband Tom Ackerley in October 2024 but revealed that she does not intend to discuss details about the tot in public after being "burnt so many times" when speaking about her personal life in the past.
In an interview with British Vogue, Margot said: "I'm trying to keep that side of things private and protect him.
"Earlier in my career, I'd speak more freely in interviews. I've just been burnt so many times, when people have taken what I've said out of context. And I read stuff all the time where people put me in quotation marks saying things I've never said.
"I remember the first time, 10 years ago, seeing that in a newspaper and I could not get my head around it. I was like, 'They just made it up?' There was no way for me to change or control it. I just had to accept that."
The Wolf of Wall Street star added: "When you shift from your 20s to your 30s and beyond, you think, 'I am going to do things differently. Here are my new boundaries.'"
Margot is starring alongside Jacob Elordi in Emerald Fennell's much-hyped movie adaptation of Emily Bronte's novel Wuthering Heights and can understand why some were unhappy with the decision to cast the Australian pair as protagonists Cathy and Heathcliff in the upcoming flick.
She said: "I get it. There's nothing else to go off at this point until people see the movie."
The decision to cast Elordi as "dark-skinned" Heathcliff was particularly divisive but Margot believes that the Saltburn star will be a fitting addition to the illustrious list of actors who have played the character in the past.
The Barbie actress said: "I saw him play Heathcliff. And he is Heathcliff. I'd say, just wait. Trust me, you'll be happy.
"It's this character that has this lineage of other great actors who've played him, from Laurence Olivier to Richard Burton and Ralph Fiennes to Tom Hardy. To be a part of that is special. He's incredible and I believe in him so much. I honestly think he's our generation's Daniel Day-Lewis."
