Google has urged the UK to embrace AI further.

The company's AI Works report claims the UK could be on the receiving end of a £400 billion boost in economic AI-driven growth if they start training people to use AI more.

Findings from the report have suggested workers could save an average of 122 hours over the year by using AI for certain admin tasks.

Part of the AI Works report reads: "History shows this pattern recurring worldwide through successive waves of technology.

But the challenge has been particularly pronounced in the UK, where a gap between innovation and implementation has repeatedly undermined economic potential.

"Given AI’s extraordinary economic potential, this long-tail pattern of adoption risks delaying productivity and compromising long-term growth."

Debbie Weinstein, Google's EMEA President, added: "We want these pilots to encourage more leaders to act now and seize this opportunity to equip everyone with the skills needed to unlock economic growth and change ways of working for the better."

What's more, Google is keen for the UK government to play a part by "guaranteeing AI training for all public sector workers."

It comes after Google's partner, Public First, found two thirds of workers haven't ever used generative AI in the workplace.
