'I was very honoured' Lenny Rush reveals why he had to turn down Doctor Who
Actor Lenny Rush has revealed he had to turn down the chance to return to 'Doctor Who', because was "too busy filming".
Lenny Rush had to turn down a 'Doctor Who' return due to his hectic schedule.
The 15-year-old star "loved" playing Morris Gibbons, UNIT's new scientific advisor, in the 2024 series, and he was asked to return for a future episode.
While Lenny was "very honoured" to be invited back, the star - who is filming the upcoming second series of comedy thriller 'Am I Being Unreasonable?' - couldn't fit shooting the sci-fi drama into his schedule.
He is quoted by the Daily Star's Hot TV column as saying: "The team at 'Doctor Who' came to me and said, 'We could put you back in somewhere.'
"I was very honoured. It's mad that they asked me to be in it again.
"But I couldn't do it because I was too busy filming.
"I loved playing Morris. It was so much fun. I'm so, so lucky."
However, Lenny still hopes to make a 'Doctor Who' comeback soon.
The Essex-born sensation added: "Everyone was lovely. I'd love to do the show again at some point.
"Hopefully, I'll be back in the future."
Fans were thrilled when the BAFTA award-winning actor joined the show, and Lenny is so grateful for how "supportive" fans have been to him.
He said: "The fan club of 'Doctor Who' is crazy. People love it.
"They've all been so supportive.
"The show has some amazing fans."
Lenny originally geared up to voice a space baby called Eric - who was later voiced by Sami Amber - on the 'Space Babies' episode of the companion show 'Doctor Who: Unleashed'.
But bosses were so impressed with his read through they wanted to cast him in a different role.
'Doctor Who' showrunner Russell T Davies is quoted by the Radio Times as saying: "Lenny Rush was one of the voices of the space babies, and he’d been so good as a space baby voice that at that read through we kind of sat there and went, 'It’s a shame. It’s a shame he’s just a voice and we’re not going to actually see Lenny.'
"So this chance came along to cast a new scientific adviser, and I was like, 'Oh my God, let’s get Lenny'."
