Oasis have announced two extra shows at London's Wembley Stadium.

Brothers Noel and Liam Gallagher announced last month they were putting their differences behind them for a 2025 reunion tour - the group's first shows since 2009 - but when the UK and Ireland gigs went on sale at the weekend, fans experienced lengthy online queues and technical difficulties as over 10 million fans from 158 different countries attempted to get tickets.

And now, "as a small step towards making amends for the situation", an invitation-only ballot has been devised for the sale of tickets for the new shows on 27 and 28 September next year, with applications first opened to those who were unsuccessful in the initial Ticketmaster sale.

The sale at the weekend saw the 'Wonderwall' hitmakers criticised when Ticketmaster implemented dynamic pricing, meaning some fans paid as much as £350 for tickets originally priced at less than half that amount.

The announcement for the two new shows stressed Oasis themselves were not responsible for the decision.

It read: "As for the well reported complaints many buyers had over the operation of Ticketmaster’s dynamic ticketing: it needs to be made clear that Oasis leave decisions on ticketing and pricing entirely to their promoters and management, and at no time had any awareness that dynamic pricing was going to be used.

"While prior meetings between promoters, Ticketmaster and the band’s management resulted in a positive ticket sale strategy, which would be a fair experience for fans, including dynamic ticketing to help keep general ticket prices down as well as reduce touting, the execution of the plan failed to meet expectations.

"All parties involved did their utmost to deliver the best possible fan experience, but due to the unprecedented demand this became impossible to achieve."

Further details on the ballot for the new shows will be announced in due course.
