Danny DeVito and Rhea Perlman still "see each other all the time" despite their separation.

The 79-year-old actor married 'Cheers' star Rhea, 76, in 1982 but they split in 2012 before getting back together and went their separate ways again in 2017.

Now, Danny has admitted that they still "see each other all the time", especially after welcoming their granddaughter through their daughter Lucy.

He told Fox News Digital: "We're doing great. We're sharing our granddaughter, our new granddaughter, and we see each other all the time.Yesterday was Lucy's birthday. We were together for the birthday party, and we had a family party. "

"We're a tight family.

The 'Poolman' actor - who also has Grace, 39, and 26-year-old Jake with his 'Matilda' co-star - first met Rhea more than 50 years ago and explained that they have both "grown " in that time and making sure the family is all together is the key to making their relationship work, even though they no longer live together.

"Well, you know, Rhea and I met, in well, 1970.

"We've been together for that long, and you grow together. It's like you really know how each other's feeling all the time. We participate in conversation daily. "Lots and lots of talking and [doing] a lot of things together. We have three beautiful children, and now we have a granddaughter who is a year old, and we have one on the way. So the family's growing.

"The whole family was together. I think that's part of it. If you can do that, you know, no matter what your situation is, we don't live together anymore, but we are together in a lot of ways."
