Veruca Salt's baby boy has died.

The social media influencer has taken to Instagram to announce the death of her son Cash, just one month after his birth.

Veruca - whose real name is Kimberley Hartley - wrote on her Instagram Story: "It is with a heavy heart that I'm writing this. My baby died in his sleep on Monday morning.

"I don't know what happened, he is having an autopsy this week but it is unlikely that I'll ever have an answer.

"I'm just saying this because people are still commenting on my TikToks saying how happy I look with him and "just wait for the toddler stage" and stuff, and I really can't take it anymore. I'm really sorry. (sic)"

Police in Queensland, Australia have already announced that they're launching an investigation into the death.

The police said in a statement given to Daily Mail Australia: "Police were called to a Southport unit at 6.13am yesterday, Monday February 5."

The police have also revealed that initial investigations suggest the baby’s death was not suspicious.

Gold Coast police superintendent Craig Hanlon said: "It’s still under investigation and we’re awaiting autopsy results. It’s obviously a tragic situation and our hearts go out to the mother and the family."

Veruca has developed a big following on social media platforms over recent years.

And the influencer previously admitted that her work has helped to increase her self-confidence.

She explained: "Sex work taught me that no matter who you are or what you look like - skinny, fat, Caucasian, a person of colour, cis, trans, anything - there will always be a large group of people who find you beautiful, even if you don’t.

"I now love my job. I love being able to do what I want when I want and having as much freedom as anyone could ask for."
